STAR CITY FIGURE SKATING CLUB ICE RULES Welcome to the Star City Figure Skating Club. We want you to enjoy the safest possible skating during club ice time. These rules are designed to create and maintain a safe skating environment. Club board members will interpret and apply these rules. Failure to observe the rules may lead to loss of skating privileges. Parents and coaches are asked to explain and reinforce these rules with young and new skaters. All SCFSC members, guests and professionals are expected to adhere to all SCFSC rules while on club ice and to show courtesy and respect to others. Please contact your coach or an SCFSC board member if you have questions or need clarification. 1. Absolutely no one on the ice when the Zamboni gates are open. Skaters should enter the ice only after the Zamboni has left the ice and the gates are closed. 2. Check in with the ice monitor BEFORE you enter the ice. Please respect the ice monitor(s). These people are volunteers who give their time to allow ice sessions to be offered. Without these volunteers, club services may be lost. 3. Look before entering and exiting the ice. Please do not block the entry/exit door. Remove guards and have conversations away from the door. 4. Higher level skaters should be careful of less experienced skaters and should set a good example. Less experienced skaters should also be aware and careful of the higher level skaters. Be constantly aware of who is around you and strive to avoid collisions. 5. Skaters practicing their programs with music have the right of way and will wear a red jersey while performing. Each skater will have the chance to have one program played before others are able to play a second (or third) program. 6. All skaters will yield to those wearing the red jersey. 7. During Tuesday evening club ice, Skaters working on jumps and spins will use the Zamboni end of the ice. Skaters practicing other skills will use the gate end of the ice. 8. Skaters resting or stationary will locate themselves at the team benches. 9. Skaters stroking and gliding will work at the perimeter of the ice. 10. No sitting or laying on the ice. 11. No tag or racing. 12. No gum chewing or eating on the ice. Rink management allows no beverages on the ice other than water. 13. If you fall on the ice and are not injured, please get up immediately. If you fall and are hurt, please do not move and ask for help. 14. Leave the ice immediately when the Zamboni enters the ice. 15. Parents/guardians and coaches are responsible for the conduct of your child/skater. Many clubs are forced to separate their skaters by skill level to maintain a safe practice sheet. If we will all follow the above rules, skill level sessions should not be necessary. Remember that if the ice time is divided by skill level, we will all have half as much time.
